Culture Minister Carál Ní Chuilín is seeking to appoint a Vice-Chair and Member to the Board of NI Screen.
Expressions of interest are welcome from applicants with an interest in the screen industry, including individuals who have not previously held positions in this area.
The Minister said: “The screen industry is one of the north’s success stories, boosting our economy and providing numerous employment opportunities. NI Screen is now in an excellent position to expand the screen industry here further and opportunities now exist for motivated members of the public to add to this success by joining the NI Screen Board. I hope that there is a high level of interest from those with the required skills and experience. ”
Minister Ní Chuilín is encouraging women, ethnic minorities and people with disabilities to apply. She said: “Females are currently underrepresented on the Board and I would particularly encourage applications from women. I would also encourage members of ethnic minorities and people with a disability to apply for these positions so that we have a board which is truly representative of our diverse society.”
NI Screen is a Company Limited by Guarantee, not having a Share Capital, and registered under the Companies (NI) Order 1986. It currently employs 21 people and is governed by a board of 13 directors.
NI Screen’s main areas of activities are:
- film development and production funding;
- production logistic support;
- marketing to promote the local area as a base for production;
- company development support initiatives for local companies;
- skills development/training for the industry;
- information services for producers and others;
- moving image education policy development;
- developing access to audio-visual heritage; and
- specialist film exhibition development.
All applications for appointment are considered strictly on merit. The final decision on appointments will rest with the Minister of Culture, Arts and Leisure.
