DARD is recruiting a new Chairperson to the College Advisory Group (CAG).
This group provides advice on strategic and operational issues to the College of Agriculture, Food and Rural Enterprise (CAFRE) management team. The successful candidate will Chair the Group of 12 members who have expertise across all sectors of the agri-food industry as well as education, rural development and the environment.
Since CAG was formed in 2007, CAFRE management has sought advice from the group on a wide range of issues including capital investment at its campuses, as well as development, delivery and marketing of CAFRE’s programmes.
CAFRE Director, John Fay, recently explained the significance of this appointment. He said: “Chairing the College Advisory Group is an important role in helping to shape what we do at CAFRE. The Group explores the issues that the agri-food industry faces and how we can best respond to meet their current and future needs.
“It has been a pleasure working with Hilda Stewart, who has held the role of Chairperson for the last eight years. Hilda has provided valuable advice to CAFRE through the Group and I would like to thank her for her support during two terms of office.”
The role of Chairperson is a three-year appointment starting from 1 January 2015 and the Group meets four to five times per year for full days at various CAFRE campuses. Applicants must have a minimum of three years experience working in the agri-food sector and a minimum of three years senior management experience working at Board level.
