The Department for Employment and Learning has a vacancy for the following public appointment: Chair of the Governing Body of South Eastern Regional College.

 This challenging and exciting role will provide you with the opportunity to play a major part in contributing to the development of a dynamic, vibrant further education sector in Northern Ireland. Further education is recognised as central to delivering Northern Ireland’s vision of a buoyant economy. As Chair of the governing body, you will have particular responsibility for providing effective strategic leadership. You will also ensure that the governing body works well in securing the efficient and effective management of the College. This includes the College’s financial performance and the quality of its teaching, learning and assessment.

Time Commitment

You will be expected to attend 7 to 9 full (evening) Governing Body meetings per year and to represent the college at meetings and public events.  You will also have significant involvement in sub‑committees. Additional meetings will be called as required.  On average, you can expect to commit around one day a week to college business.  This appointment is initially for a four year term.


The post is not presently remunerated. However, it is expected that remuneration will become available during the lifetime of the appointment. Travelling and subsistence allowances are payable.
