The Northern Ireland Public Services Ombudsman (NIPSO) is seeking to make the following appointments to our Audit and Risk Committee (ARC):
- Non Executive Chairperson of the NIPSO ARC The salary for this position is £380 per day. The time commitment will be a minimum of five days per year.
- Non Executive Member of the NIPSO ARC The salary for this position is £300 per day. The time commitment will be a minimum of five days per year.
Legislation to establish the new office of Northern Ireland Public Services Ombudsman (NIPSO) – the Public Services Ombudsman Act (Northern Ireland) 2016 – has recently received Royal Assent and the new NIPSO office will be established on 1st April 2016. The legislation will bring together the existing offices of Assembly Ombudsman and Commissioner for Complaints into a single statutory office. The Act extends the offices’ remit, improves public access to redress and strengthens the Ombudsman’s powers of investigation.
The role of the ARC is to advise and support the Ombudsman as Accounting Officer, while providing the necessary assurance alongside the new accountability arrangements to be developed with the Audit Committee of the Northern Ireland Assembly.
