Chief Electoral Officer for Northern Ireland sought

Applications are sought from candidates with good judgment, resilience, sensitivity and a track record of achievement at board or senior executive level in the private or public sector. Candidates for this post must have experience of transformational change of a complex organisation and must be able to command the confidence of all sides of the community in Northern Ireland. This position is based in Belfast. 

The arrangements for electoral administration in Northern Ireland are different from elsewhere in the United Kingdom. The system in Northern Ireland is administered centrally by the Chief Electoral Officer for Northern Ireland who is both the electoral registration officer for all 18 constituencies in Northern Ireland and returning officer for all elections and referendums in that jurisdiction.   • Remuneration: £65,000-£90,000 for an exceptional candidate
  • Period of appointment and commencement date: the term of appointment is five years commencing in January 2017.
