St John Ambulance (NI) is a charitable company which is governed by a Board of Trustees.
The Board oversees the whole range of activities carried out by St John Ambulance in Northern Ireland (work based first aid training, operational activities at events and delivery of patient transfers, fundraising and youth development as well as property and financial infrastructure).
The Board of Trustees ensures that St John Ambulance (NI) works effectively and complies with its obligations under corporate and charity law.
Trustees need to contribute actively in giving strategic direction to the organisation, setting overall policy, defining goals and setting targets and evaluating performance against agreed targets.
Trustees are now sought as follows:
- Lead Finance – ideally a specialist qualified as an accountant
- Lead Volunteer with experience in the volunteering / not-for-profit sector
- An independent trustee with experience in health, business or education.
Trustees should be able to prepare for and attend four to five Board meetings per year as well as being involved in some Committee work.
The role is unremunerated but reasonable expenses will be reimbursed.
