Trustee wanted by Politics Plus

Politics Plus is seeking to appoint 1 member to its Board of Trustees with effect from 8 January 2018.

The successful candidate will assist the Board in the delivery of its vision for the long term future of Politics Plus, as well as in the ongoing development of an effective organisation within which goals can be achieved. Politics Plus is an independent not-for-profit organisation operating with Parliament Buildings, Stormont.  

Politics Plus currently has five Trustees on its Board, each representing one of the main political parties in Northern Ireland. Through their political and non-political careers, Trustees have a wide variety of skills to apply to the work of Politics Plus. To further add to the capacity and capabilities of our Board of trustees, Politics Plus now wish to recruit an unelected Trustee.

Board of Trustees Member Responsibilities

The Board of Trustees of Politics Plus oversees performance and strategic direction in relation to implementation of the objectives of Politics Plus. In addition, the Board of Trustees is responsible for ensuring the highest standards of governance, efficiency and propriety in the use of funds. The Board of Trustees is expected to be active and individual Trustees will directly contribute to the strategic development of the range of current and future Politics Plus initiatives.

Other important Board of Trustees Member responsibilities include:

  • Establishing and monitoring policies.
  • Oversight of adherence to procedures.
  • Ensuring compliance with the governing document.
  • Ensuring compliance with the law.
  • Maintenance of effective board performance.
  • Promoting the organisation.

In seeking a non-elected Trustee for their Board, Politics Plus are particularly interested in hearing from candidates with experience in one or more of the following areas:

  • Accountancy,
  • Financial Scrutiny,
  • Procurement
