Stepping Stones NI is a not for profit charitable organisation providing a range of services and social enterprises that support people with a learning disability and learning difficulties realise their potential for a better future.

Voluntary Board Members

We are seeking to recruit Board Members who would identify with and champion our Purpose, Vision and Values and who have skills, knowledge and experience that would benefit the organisation particularly in the following areas:  

  • Marketing & Public Relations
  • Business Development
  • Background in Learning Disability
  • Organisational Development
  • Human Resource
  • Legal

Time Commitment?

The Board currently meets every two months for approximately 1 ½ hours on a Wednesday evening from 6pm-7.30pm.  Location of board meetings are held at 39 Seymour Street Lisburn.

There is also a Finance, Audit and Risk sub-committee and a Human Resource Governance and Nominations Committee which meets prior to board meetings and a small number of board members attend with the Chief Officer.

Board members are occasionally requested to support the work of the charity outside these meetings, such as assisting with staff recruitment, fundraising events etc.

Due to the nature of our work, all board appointments will be subject to an Enhanced Access NI disclosure.
