*Closes 09th February*

The Department for the Economy is recruiting for a new Chair and 8 Members to the Board of Northern Ireland Skills Council (NISC), with effect from 30 April 2023.

A public appointment gives individuals from different backgrounds and with specific skills and experience a chance to help make decisions that affect all our lives. Public appointments are a great opportunity to give something back to the community, whilst developing your own skills.

The NISC is a new advisory body, providing strategic advice to Ministers of the Northern Ireland Executive, and government departments, on issues pertaining to the development of skills policy to meet the objectives of the Programme for Government, the economic vision for Northern Ireland ‘10x Economy: Northern Ireland’s Decade of Innovation’ and the Skills Strategy, ‘Skills for a 10x Economy’.

The rate of remuneration for the Chair is currently £4,656.00 per annum (based on 16 days’ work per year), and for a Council member £1,788.00 per annum (based on 12 days per annum).

We particularly welcome applications from people with a disability and those from minority ethnic communities as these groups are currently under-represented on Boards.

We are operating a Guaranteed Interview Scheme for applicants with a disability.

No academic qualifications are required for the post. Appointments will be made from those individuals who best satisfy the essential criteria detailed in the application pack.

An application pack with full details and guidance can be obtained from: DfE website
