The NIBTS exists to fully supply the needs of all hospitals and clinical units in the province with safe and effective blood and blood products and other related services. It is an independent, Special Agency of the DoH. It is responsible for the collection, testing and distribution of over 64,000 blood donations each year. The Secretary of State for Health is looking to appoint 3 Non-Executive Directors (NED’s) to the Care Quality Commission (CQC). The CQC is the independent regulator of health and adult social care providers in England and has a key responsibility in the overall assurance of safety and quality of health and adult social care services.

We are looking for NEDs with experience and expertise from the following areas: patient safety and care quality, the business sector, adult social care, and Human Resource/Organisational Development (HR/OD).

As a NED of the CQC Board, you will be responsible for helping to ensure the CQC is a successful organisation. Chair and Vice Chair sought for Northern Ireland Housing Executive

The Department for Communities is today launching a competition to appoint a new Chair and Vice-Chair to sit on the Board of the Northern Ireland Housing Executive.
Our goal is for everyone to have access to decent, affordable housing. The Chair and Vice-Chair will have key roles in working towards this goal and in setting the strategic direction for the organisation.
This is an open competition and applications are welcome from a wide range of people with an interest in public service, including individuals who have not previously held positions in this area.  Applications are particularly welcome from women, people from an ethnic minority, people with a disability and young people.
The Chair position attracts remuneration of £32,512 per year, plus travel and subsistence allowances. This post will require a commitment of at least two days per week and is expected to begin on 1 July 2017.
The Vice-Chair position attracts remuneration of £16,150 per year, plus travel and subsistence. This post will require a commitment of at least 1 day per week and is expected to begin on 5 November 2017. Both appointments will be for a term of up to 5 years.

Appointment of One (1) Non-Executive (Medical) Member and (1) Non-Executive Lay Member to the Northern Ireland Medical and Dental Training Agency (NIMDTA)

The Department of Health is seeking to appoint one (1) Non-Executive Medical Member and (1) Non-Executive Lay Member to the Northern Ireland Medical and Dental Training Agency (NIMDTA).

NIMDTA is responsible for funding, managing and supporting Postgraduate Medical and Dental Education Training within Northern Ireland. It provides a range of services for those engaged in the delivery of Postgraduate Medical and Dental Education and Training.

  • Remuneration: £2,981 per annum
  • Period of appointment and commencement date: the term of appointment is four years commencing  on 01 April 2017.

Board Members sought for the Utility Regulator – Northern Irealnd

The Utility Regulator is responsible for regulating the electricity and gas industries and water and sewerage services in Northern Ireland and protecting the short and long-term interests of consumers.

The Department of Finance and Personnel is seeking to appoint at least two new members to the Board of the Utility Regulator with effect from 1 October 2015 or as soon as possible thereafter.  The terms of appointment will be for five years and, subject to satisfactory performance, may be extended for a second term.  The expected time commitment amounts to approximately twenty days per year.  The posts carry an annual remuneration of £9,616 and travel and subsistence expenses will be paid at Northern Ireland Civil Service rates.

The Utility Regulator intends to recommend the appointment of one of its suitably experienced non-executive directors to the all Ireland Single Electricity Market Committee (SEMC). SEMC is a statutory committee of both the Utility Regulator and the Commission for Energy Regulation and is responsible for regulating and developing the all-island wholesale electricity market.

The extra time commitment for this role amounts to a further 20 days per year, with SEMC meetings held alternatively in Belfast and Dublin. Should you be appointed to this position you will be remunerated separately for that role in accordance with the terms and conditions of that appointment.

Applicants must be able to demonstrate:

  • At least 5 years senior level experience in either:
    • a regulated electricity utility or generatorand have an understanding of electricity markets; or
    • a regulated company from another utility sector, such as water, railways or telecommunications.
  • Experience of setting the strategic direction for an organisation;
  • Experience of delivering results and engaging people; and
  • Knowledge and understanding of the principles and practice of corporate governance and an understanding of the role of a non-executive director.
