Chairperson – Agri Food and Biosciences Institute (AFBI)

The Department of Agriculture, Environment and Rural Affairs (DAERA) is seeking to appoint a Chair to the Agri-Food and Biosciences Institute (AFBI).  AFBI is a DAERA Executive Non-Departmental Public Body (NDBP) set up under the powers of the Agriculture (NI) Order 2004.  It is empowered under the Order to undertake scientific work (research and development, testing, advice and information on scientific matters and dissemination of the results of scientific research) in the fields of agriculture, animal health and welfare, food, fisheries, forestry, the natural environment and rural development and enterprise.  Further information about the organisation, can be obtained from the AFBI website at www.afbini.gov.uk.

Time Commitment and Remuneration: Chair role requires approximately 40 days per annum. This position is remunerated at £26,510 per annum (currently under review). Independent Board Members sought

The Department of Justice is seeking to appoint nine members to the Northern Ireland Policing Board.

Details

  • remuneration: £15,000 a year
  • period of appointment: three independent members will be appointed in July 2018 for a three-year term, and six independent members in July 2019 (of those six, three will be appointed for three years and three for four years)
  • time commitment: a minimum of four days a month board business and will be required to perform a representative role on behalf of the board at a variety of events
  • appointment regulated by CPA NI

Non Executive Directors – Care Quality Commission

The Secretary of State for Health is looking to appoint 3 Non-Executive Directors (NED’s) to the Care Quality Commission (CQC). The CQC is the independent regulator of health and adult social care providers in England and has a key responsibility in the overall assurance of safety and quality of health and adult social care services.

We are looking for NEDs with experience and expertise from the following areas: patient safety and care quality, the business sector, adult social care, and Human Resource/Organisational Development (HR/OD).

As a NED of the CQC Board, you will be responsible for helping to ensure the CQC is a successful organisation. Non-Executive Directors play a key role in ensuring continuous organisational improvement, high performance management, excellent customer focus and service delivery, scrutiny, challenge, accountability, and effective corporate governance.
