Ofcom is the independent regulator and competition authority for the communications and postal sectors, with responsibilities across television, radio, telecommunications, post and wireless communications services.

We wish to appoint three members to our Advisory Committee for Northern Ireland.

Board Members wanted for The Odyssey Trust Board

The Odyssey is the Landmark Millennium Project for Northern Ireland and is owned by the Odyssey Trust Company Limited (OTC), a company limited by guarantee with charitable status. The Odyssey is a unique entertainment and educational venue sited at Queen’s Quay, Belfast, comprising 3 main areas

  • The SSE Arena, which seats 10,000 people where ice hockey games, concerts, and family shows are held.
  • W5, an interactive discovery and educational centre.
  • The Pavilion, which comprises the multiplex cinema, ten pin bowling and a range of restaurants.

The OTC Board oversees and manages the investment in the Odyssey to ensure its ongoing viability and promotes its continuing development for the benefit of the people of Northern Ireland.   Continue reading

Board Members wanted for Tourism Northern Ireland

The Department for the Economy (DfE) is seeking to appoint two new members to the Board of Tourism Northern Ireland (formerly Northern Ireland Tourist Board).

Background

Tourism Northern Ireland (TNI) is a statutory Non-Departmental Public Body.

TNI is responsible for the development of Northern Ireland as a tourist destination as well as being responsible for the promotion and marketing of Northern Ireland as a tourist destination within Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland. TNI’s vision is to confidently and passionately champion the development and promotion of the Northern Ireland experience.

One appointment will commence on 1 July 2017 and one on 1 February 2018, and the term of the appointment for both will be for three years.

People with a disability and ethnic minority communities are currently under-represented on the Board and applications from members of these groups would be particularly welcome.

We are operating the Guaranteed Interview Scheme for applicants with a disability.

The role

We are looking to appoint two exceptional individuals who will bring passion and commitment, as well as skills and experience, to our Board. Trustees play an active role in governing the charity and are responsible for setting vision, strategic priorities, and for ensuring that the charity complies with legal, charitable and financial requirements.

Member wanted for NI Food Advisory Committee

As a modern regulator and independent Government body, the Food Standards Agency in Northern Ireland (FSA in NI) protects NI consumers with effective enforcement and advice on diet, nutrition and healthy eating.  The Northern Ireland Food Advisory Committee (NIFAC) acts as an advisory body to the Agency and is chaired by the Northern Ireland member of the FSA Board. NIFAC’s role is to provide advice and information to the FSA, across its remit with a focus on Northern Ireland.

The FSA in NI wishes to appoint one new member to NIFAC in 2017.  The role involves a time commitment of 2/3 days per month, including committee meetings and preparation time, and attracts a remuneration of £5,319 per year (non-pensionable). Appointments are normally for a two or three year term and are made by the Minister of Health.

Trustees wanted at Rosie’s Trust

Rosie’s Trust is a unique Northern Ireland charity, officially registered with the Northern Ireland Charity Commission in April 2015.

Our mission is to maintain and support the special relationship and bond between owners and their companion pets. We will do this when this relationship is threatened by the impact of the owner’s terminal illness, advancing age or acute cancer treatment.

Our principle aim is to enable the owner and their pet to stay together.

Our services are offered at no cost to our clients. We are proud to enable the continuing relationship between people and their pets.

We aim to recruit 2 new Trustees to our board:

  • 1 member who will be Treasurer
  • 1 member with Marketing, legal or health&social care expertise.
