School Governor Opportunities in Voluntary Grammar Schools
The Department of Education (DE) has launched a new campaign to recruit school governors in Voluntary Grammar schools across Northern Ireland.
The Department would be very grateful for your support for this campaign and would ask that you share this volunteering opportunity with staff and members.
Becoming a school governor is a fantastic opportunity to help children and young people in your local community, meet new people, learn new skills and share experience.
School governors are volunteers from all backgrounds, who use their skills and experience to support schools in providing the best possible education for every pupil. Governors do not need to be educational experts or parents to serve on a Board of Governors.
Governors play a critically important role in the management of a school, alongside school leaders. Governors bring qualities such as enthusiasm, commitment and the ability to work in a team and make a genuine difference to the outcomes of children and young people in schools. Becoming a school governor can also provide valuable management and leadership experience for those seeking to extend skills and experience.
Anyone aged 18 or over can apply and applications are welcome from all backgrounds.
Information on the role of the school governor and how to apply is available on the Department’s website: https://www.education-ni.gov.uk/articles/school-governor-appointments .
